St. Bernard's Church

In October 2004 St. Bernard's Church, Bernardsville, NJ was almost destroyed by fire and underwent a painstaking $5m restoration completed in 2008. One of the greatest losses was to the Clayton and Bell 1898 windows, especially the Oculus. Art Femenella and Kathy Jordan will discuss conservation challenges and the long journey to restore these windows and reconstruct the oculus from research through to the restoration and re-installation. This is a fascinating story and provides insights into the careful conservation approach necessary after a disaster. (Part 1 of 3)
